Little Words Project Sets Up Our New Office
Posted on 10 November 2016
Okay, okay so it's not so "new" anymore. But hey, what are Thursday's for if not throwbacks?! A couple of notable moments:
1- When we appear to be working but in reality Bill (my fiancé) can be found trying to capture my insta for the day at :32-:37
2- Our sweet moves at :55-1:03 (again, enter Bill the star)...
As you can see, we had so much fun setting up our very first office space! Sometimes, I honestly have to pinch myself when I stop and think about how far we come. Just under 3 years ago, I was beading bracelets after my "day job" in my parent's basement. Back then, my mom and I handled the production of each piece and my father was the "shipping department" (as he can still be known to refer to himself).
From there, Bill (my fiancé) and I moved the business into our first studio apartment in Jersey City, NJ. This was literally a one-room apartment where we'd regretfully count the number of times we stepped heavy-footed onto pointy, bicone beads. The pain was real. Eventually, we found ourselves so overwhelmed by the clutter that we absolutely HAD to make a change; so, we moved to our 2nd Jersey City apartment.
This time, we we're in a brand new doorman building (which was still being built at the time so we scored a killer deal on rent- #lifehack). This apartment had a second bedroom where we set up the first "official" LWP HQ. Not gonna lie, being able to roll out of bed and walk 5 feet to work wasn't half bad. But naturally, we found ourselves running out of space, yet again.
Enter, the Hoboken warehouse. Bill had come across the space one day on his morning run and thought to himself, "This is exactly the kind of office space LWP needs." After making some calls, he finally got in touch with the landlord and was able to set up a walk-through. The second I walked in, I knew we'd found the next home for Little Words Project. After just a few short weeks, the lease was signed and I had officially held the keys to my very first office space.
So, while our little office in may not be the most glamorous, and yes, it may be directly beneath the Hoboken Crossfit gym, which lends itself to some particularly painful headaches, it's OURS and we couldn't be more proud.
As some of you may know, tomorrow marks our 3 year anniversary! In just the 3 short years that Little Words Project has been in existence, we've sold over 100,000 bracelets, donated over $20,000 dollars to various charities, have welcomed over 1,000 customers into the #PassItOn club, and expanded the brand into over 300 retailers nation-wide. We have dealt with our fair share of business blows and heartbreaking losses, but we keep on keeping on the only way we know how- with smiles on our faces and kindness in our hearts.
So, thanks for being on this journey with us, nice girls. What started off as a fun "sisterhood" activity with my college sorority, has since turned into a nationally coveted friendship bracelet and we couldn't have done it without you!
