Danny’s Pantry opened its first chapter in the District of New Jersey’s Newark Vicinage in honor of Judge Esther Salas’s son, Daniel Anderl, on the fourth anniversary of his tragic death. To transform sorrow into positivity, Danny’s Pantry helps to alleviate some of the burdens faced by poverty-stricken families and individuals, specifically participants in the Court’s Pretrial Opportunity Program and ReNew ReEntry Program.
These problem-solving court programs are aimed at helping defendants rehabilitate and avoid recidivism, and Danny’s Pantry has furthered their purpose by providing meals and other necessary household items to assist participants while they navigate challenging periods in their lives. In a time of much controversy and strife, it has brought Daniel’s parents great joy to know that the District of New Jersey is doing its part to spread light and love to the community it serves.
This “Love is Light” bracelet is meant to be worn as a personal reminder to share and embrace light and love in our daily lives, in honor of Daniel’s beautiful life.
